Priyanka Sharma started her baking journey during the first lockdown in 2020.

With so much time in hand, she decided to learn baking by watching YouTube videos. She ended up making different kinds of desserts and decided to run her own homemade dessert online shop ‘Nuts about nuts’.

The main basis of opening Nuts about nuts is to sell healthy desserts like energy balls and protein bars along with varieties of cookies, explains Sharma.

All her relatives really loved the cookies and suggested that she open a bakery in the future. “Well, honestly I did not think I would run an online shop let alone a bakery. But my sister was the one who convinced me to start an online dessert shop and I went for it without even thinking twice,” says Sharma.

Asking about her experience, Sharma says, “This is something that started as a hobby, and now I’m making a living out of it. So, the experience is surreal.”

Her father is an amazing cook, so they already had a convection oven installed in their own kitchen.

Working from home is amazing. You are your own boss; however, it comes along with a lot of responsibilities. You have to do everything yourself, from planning to prepping, baking desserts, taking photos and posting them online, marketing, replying to the messages of the customers. There is a lot of work but I enjoy it,” Sharma adds.

Sharma and her sister brainstormed many names but couldn’t find the suitable one. “One day while I was doing the dishes, out of nowhere, Nuts about nuts popped in my head, and instantly knew that the name was perfect for my online shop. The name is quirky but meaningful,” explains Sharma.

It’s been over one year since Sharma started her online dessert business and it has received many positive feedbacks. She explains how she thrives off of her customers' reviews and appreciates the love she has received from her customers.

The most loved food in Nuts about nuts is brownie cheesecake, yet the best seller is chocolate chunk cookies. She also has combo offers every month.

While her business is doing good, when Sharma started her journey it was difficult for her to find a wholesaler, box manufacturer, and printing company because of lockdown.

Delivering desserts was tricky and there weren’t many delivery companies that delivered desserts. For a few months, Sharma herself delivered the packages with the help of one of her friends.

Sharma says, “I baked from morning until 3-4 pm and then delivered it till 7-8 pm, the cycle went on for a few months, which would obviously exhaust me but it was nothing for all the love and support I have received.”

“I believe obstacles are inevitable in life and you learn and grow from all good and bad experiences. I hope to open a little bakery shop in the near future,” adds Sharma.
