The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has apprehended a loan shark with cheques worth Rs 194.3 million from Chabahil in Kathmandu. SP Shyam Kumar Mahato, Spokesperson of the CIB, informed that the person who had been caught was 33-year-old Ganesh Upreti, a resident of Melung in Dolakha. Upreti had been living in Bhaisepati of Lalitpur at present.

During the initial investigation, it has been revealed that Upreti had been harassing people who had borrowed money from him. He had lent money at an exorbitantly high interest rate to Prakash Karki, who is from Dolakha but has been living in Bhaktapur, and Hemara Gubhaju, a resident of Ramechhap who has been living in Kathmandu.

Upreti had apparently taken cheques worth Rs 41.6 million from Karki on different occasions and cheques worth Rs 41.4 million from Gubhaju. Both Karki and Gubhaju had lodged a complaint with the police that Upreti had been threatening them and warning them that he would kill them if they did not return the money at the earliest.
