Over 5,000 policemen have been deployed inside the Kathmandu Valley in light of the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress. Police security has been significantly increased at the Bhrikuti Mandap area, which is serving as the venue of today's inauguration ceremony.

Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar informed that necessary security arrangements have been made in all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley focusing on the General Convention.

Spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Office, Superintendent of Police Sushil Singh Rathore said that more than 5,000 police personnel have been deployed focusing on the General Convention alone.

According to Traffic Police Spokesperson Sanjiv Sharma Das, the number of vehicles entering the Kathmandu Valley has increased compared to the previous days. Thus, surveillance has been intensified at major entry points in the ring road, Kathmandu valley, delegates' residential areas, and VIP routes. Undercover police have also been mobilized and CCTV cameras have also been used to monitor incidents, riots, protests, or violence that might occur today.

Testing and necessary security arrangements have been made using the technology, and foot and mobile patrols have also been mobilized.

The Metropolitan Traffic Police has made necessary arrangements to reduce the traffic congestion that may occur during the inauguration ceremony today. Chief of the Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Janak Bhattarai said that more than 350 traffic police have been mobilized for route management.

Diversions have been made from Padmodaya, Kamaladi, Sabhagriha, Singha Durbar, and Maitighar to avoid traffic jams at the venue. In case of heavy traffic around Tundikhel, a security plan has been made to divert from Tripureshwor Chowk, Balaju Chowk, Narayangopal, Kalanki, Balkhu, Jawalakhel, Tinkune, and Gaushala Chowk. Bhattarai said that the route diversion could be done as per the need considering the presence of people and traffic pressure.

Arrangements have been made for the parking of vehicles on the open platform of the General Convention delegates. Vehicles of flag bearers, party presidents, and foreign observers are parked behind the assembly hall of Bhrikuti Mandap, and other VIP vehicles are parked in the National Assembly.
