Prohibitory order in Kathmandu valley extended by another week

Some provisions have been relaxed

The prohibitory order in Kathmandu valley has been extended by a week but certain provisions have been relaxed during the next order. The current prohibitory order was supposed to end at midnight of June 21.

The decision to extend the prohibitory order albeit with some relaxations was taken in a meeting of the chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur held today.

The next prohibitory order will be in place till midnight of June 28.

The restriction on movement of private vehicles has been lifted but it will be on an odd-even basis. This means that private vehicles with odd vehicle registration numbers will be allowed to ply on odd dates and on even dates private vehicles with even numbers will be allowed. However, movement of public transportation has still been restricted except for taxis. Taxis will however be allowed to operate on an odd-even basis.

Meanwhile, shops selling food items will be allowed to open till 11 am every day. Similarly, shops selling construction materials will be allowed to open from 11 am till 6 pm daily.

Likewise, jewellery shops, those selling utensils and mobile shops will be allowed to open on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. They will be allowed to open from 11 am till 4 pm. Meanwhile, department stores and shops selling fancy goods will be allowed to open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 am till 4 pm.
