The chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have decided to extend the prohibitory order in Kathmandu valley by one more week. The order has been extended citing that the rate of infections in the valley has not declined as expected.
The current prohibitory order was to end on midnight of May 27.
Earlier today, Kali Prasad Parajuli, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, had said that there is a need to extend the prohibitory order in Kathmandu because the number of COVID-19 infections has not declined as expected.
New provisions have also been included in the prohibitory order. As per the rules, only shops selling vegetables, fruits, dairy products, meat, drinking water and cooking gas will be allowed to open till 9 am. Meanwhile, the order states that grocery shops and department stores will also not be allowed to open during the duration of the prohibitory order.
