Fifty years after the idol was stolen, the reconstruction of the Brahma temple has begun.
The temple of Brahma in Pashupati area, which fell into disrepair after the idol was stolen fifty years ago, is being reconstructed. The temple at Jaywageswari in Pashupati area is being reconstructed at a cost of Rs 40 lakhs received from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Ashaman Sangat, chairman of the Metropolitan Municipality-8, informed RSS after finding the stolen statue and keeping it in the metropolitan police circle at Gaushala. After the reconstruction of the temple, the idol will be placed in the temple and re-enthroned. He also told that during the excavation for the reconstruction of the temple, it was found that another house had destroyed the land of the temple. After the reconstruction, the statue will be placed in the temple and consecrated again.
Ward president Sangat, who is also the coordinator of the heritage and culture committee of the metropolitan city, said that there is no information about the temple of Brahma elsewhere in Nepal. The Ward Office said that the country's rare statue has been in the police office for 50 years, so a campaign is underway to restore it by building a temple.
There were no houses in the temple area in the census of 1965 A.D. Then in the year 1985 A.D., it was found during the survey that many houses had already been built. Now, when the landlord is ready to leave the land of the temple, the land claimed by the temple will be left open. Local residents have been demanding that the area of the Brahma temple should not be explored as the land has been reduced heavily.
