The chief district officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur are holding discussions on whether to extend the current prohibitory order by another 15 days. The meeting is being held at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.

The government had imposed a prohibitory order in Kathmandu valley which began on April 29 and is supposed to end on May 12 but it is likely to be extended by another 15 days.

While speaking to NepalNews, Kali Prasad Parajuli, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, said that discussions are being held on whether or not to extend the prohibitory order. “We will gauge the outcome of the current order and then take a decision on whether or not to extend the prohibitory order,” he mentioned.

A meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre held on Sunday had recommended the government to extend the prohibitory order in Kathmandu valley by a further 15 days and CDO Parajuli stated that the prohibitory could be extended. “We will issue a statement when we finalise the modality of the prohibitory order if we do decide to extend it,” he told NepalNews.

“The current order is till tomorrow so we still have one more day to finalise things,” Parajuli said, adding that the CDOs will also hold discussions on how to make the prohibitory order more effective if it is extended.
