KATHMANDU: The action-packed Nepali film Pitambar, starring superstar Pradeep Khadka, has kicked off with a bang in both Nepal and Australia, delivering a highly encouraging opening weekend.

According to the Film Development Board, the movie grossed over NPR 1 crore by Saturday afternoon on its second day. With the addition of evening and late-night shows, the number is expected to increase even further, although official statements are yet to be released. Saturday’s attendance was excellent nationwide reaching 100% at some QFX branches like Bhaktapur and Labim.

Coming out over the holiday New Year 2082 weekend has added to its box office appeal, with high hopes of good returns over the holiday.

Globally, Australia, one of Nepali cinema’s most important markets, has reacted in like manner. More than 100 screenings were conducted on its opening day, and audience response was healthy over the weekend. Distributors Rugged Boyz and Namaste Entertainment have confirmed that the action scenes in the film have left audiences excited.

With additional shows being added across major cinemas like Hoyts, Events, Reading, Village, and Limelight, Pitambar is set for an even stronger run in Australia starting Monday.

The star-studded cast includes Pradeep Khadka, Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, Aryan Sigdel, Anoop Bikram Shahi, and many more top names from Nepali cinema.
