66 percent vaccinated against COVID-19: Karnali

The Karnali state government has vaccinated 66 per cent of the target population above 18 years of age with both doses of Covid-19 vaccine

Announcing the latest achievements of the state government at the 'Chief Minister-Journalist Meeting' program in Surkhet on Wednesday, Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi said that 54 percent of the total population of the state had been given both first and second dose of corona vaccine. 140,188 people had also received booster dose

Stating that corona infection is on the rise again in neighboring India, he said that preparations are being made to reduce the potential risk. Chief Minister Shahi said that the Covid-19 vaccination campaign has been intensified and priority has been given to the construction of health infrastructure and manpower management during this period. He informed that arrangements have been made for free treatment of victims by signing agreements with Karnali State Hospital, Karnali Institute of Health Sciences and Patan Institute of Health Sciences.

Chief Minister Shahi said that Rs. 150 million has been sent to the local level for the subsistence allowance to the families of the martyrs and for the subsistence allowance to the injured persons with disabilities. A total of 73 contract doctors and other health workers have been sent to various hospitals, Rukum West, Salyan, Dolpa, Humla and Dailekh district hospitals and 66 community health units across the state have been rehabilitated at the local level. As a project of state pride, construction of state stadium, international volleyball court, construction of 81 playgrounds in all 10 districts of the state and construction of 400 classroom buildings in all 79 municipalities for the development of physical infrastructure of community schools are under consruction.

Irrigation facility has been provided to 1,239 hectares of land in the current fiscal year. Production of potato, almond, apple, walnut and kiwi has started in 1,205 ropanis through the Chaklabandi Program, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office. Maize Mission, Marcy Paddy Promotion, Soybean and Indigenous Crop Promotion and Chaite Paddy Area Expansion Program have been implemented in Jajarkot and Dailekh, In the last six months, 170 kilometers of roads have been dug, 30 kilometers of roads have been upgraded and 11.5 kilometers of roads have been tarred. 

The Chief Minister's Office has tabled an amended bill on the Provincial Civil Service Bill, the Act on the Work, Duties and Powers of the Chief Justice and Conditions of Service and the draft of the Provincial Electricity Bill has reached the final stage. The process of formulating regulations has also been taken forward by issuing Karnali State Health Services Act, 2078 BS.
