Four arrested for illegally transporting sal wood

District Police Office, Surkhet, recovered sal wood from Bangesimal, Surkhet, Birendranagar Municipality, on Monday.

A police team recovered timber from Salkot Bazaar of Panchpuri Municipality of West Surkhet while it was being taken to Salli Bazaar of Salyan.

Ram Prasad Gharti, information officer at the District Police Office, Surkhet and Deputy Superintendent of Police said that four persons were also arrested. The arrested have been identified as Toran BK, 20, Prem BK, 21, Ramji Gupta, 39, of Bheriganga Municipality-9, Surkhet and Kulbir BK, 35, of the same municipality-6. According to Gharti, Gupta was illegally transporting timber from Salkot to Salli Bazaar of Salyan in a mini-truck for personal use.

According to the police, 16-year-old Kalpana Soni of Birendranagar Municipality-9, Surkhet, who was sentenced to six months imprisonment by the District Court, Surkhet on Sunday, has been arrested from the bus park of the same municipality.
