4,364 new COVID cases reported on Tuesday

Nepal's COVID tally hits 307,925

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday reported 4,364 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 307,925. Additionally, 160 persons have tested positive for the virus in the Antigen test conducted in the past 24 hours.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 1,966 new cases of coronavirus infection — 1,602 in Kathmandu, 240 in Lalitpur and 124 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours. A total of 1,167 males and 799 females have been reported to be infected by the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

As many as 555 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 278,506 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Tuesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 90.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,194 with the report of 18 more deaths from COVID-19 of which 12 persons died in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 26,225 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Monday had reported 3,442 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 303,561.

As of Tuesday, a total of 2,432,089 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 26,225 persons staying in isolation while 58 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 147.94 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,260,412 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 5:08 pm, on Tuesday, April 26, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
