The Bagmati River having religious importance is considered a shrine in the Hindu and Buddhist religions. Now parks are being built on the premises of some temples in the vicinity of the Bagmati River.

The High-Powered Committee for the Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization has emphasized constructing parks to keep the environment of the Kathmandu Valley clean and green, conserve the historical, archeological, and cultural heritages related to the river system, and identify and protect the entire Bagmati civilization.

The UN Park that was established in 2052 BS in Jwagal, Lalitpur is now under the ownership of the Committee.

Works are being undertaken to beautify the UN Park having greenery in its surrounding.

Its Information Officer Kamal Aryal informed that various parks have been already constructed along the Bagmati River and some are in progress. Around 1,576 ropani lands under the UN Park have come under the ownership of the Committee.

He further shared, "There are altogether 31 parks, including big and small along the Bagmati corridor. We have leased some of our lands to different organizations for park management purposes for a definite period. The organizations have constructed parks with different names".

The parks along the Bagmati corridor have been constructed by extracting soil from the river. The soil swept away by the Bagmati River formed a mound and sneaked into the human settlements and parks during flooding. With the extraction of soil and sand piled up in the river bed, helps smooth the flow of river water and also reduces risks to human settlements and parks in the vicinity.

The construction of a park nearby the corridor also helps maintain the cleanliness of the river. No ticket arrangement has been placed for the entrance to the newly-constructed parks. A small amount is being charged for the shooting of the music video.

The Committee said ticket arrangement would further make the park management effective.

The Committee further shared that all the parks would be handed over to the metropolitan cities for sound management and preservation once the construction works are completed. ---
