Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav said global peace could be maintained if Buddha's teaching were fully adopted.
In his address to a program organized at Soyambhu in the capital on the occasion of the 2567th Buddha Jayanti on Friday, he said there would be no confusion in keeping global peace if Buddha's middle path asserting trade of arms and ammunition and human trafficking was completely a fake source of livelihood was embraced from all sectors. 'This realization would gradually increase positive energy among individuals', Vice President Yadav added.
Adoption of the Principle of Panchasheel put forth by Buddha has motivated our home, society, nation, and international community to the positive path, he noted.
He further said it was a pleasant moment for all of us to make wider publicity of Buddha's teaching to prevent all-pervasive violence, terror, and consumption of life-threatening drugs.
'Nepal has advanced as an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular, inclusive, discrimination-free, and federal democratic republic nation. This is an epoch-making achievement. It should not be overlooked anymore', Yadav mentioned.
The Vice President expressed his confidence that the country could be taken to the right path of sustainable peace through behavioral change and being adherent to democratic values.
He drew the government's attention toward timely accomplishing the master plan of Lumbini – the birthplace of Buddha.
Also on the occasion, Kathmandu metropolis deputy mayor Sunita Dangol highlighted the importance of Buddha teaching for every individual. ---
