The Chief Minister of Province No. 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai has expressed serious concern about the flow of Saptakosi river moving towards the west and entering the human settlements. Chief Minister Rai, issuing a press note today, has mentioned that he is concerned that the residents of some wards of Sunsari Barahkshetra Municipality and Udaipur Belka Municipality of Province No. 1 have been affected as the flow of the river moves towards the west.

Chief Minister Rai has called upon the residents of the river coastal areas to leave the dangerous places and go to the safest places possible. He has directed the local administration, local level and people's representatives, security personnel, Red Cross and other agencies to be aware of the damage that may occur when the river flow enters the settlement and to join the relief and rescue operations.

With the expectation that social organizations will be active within the situation to provide immediate relief, Chief Minister Rai has said that the Government of Province No. 1 is committed to providing adequate relief and rescue. Chief Minister Rai is currently recovering from Covid infection.

In the first week of August 2065, due to the flood and erosion in the Saptakosi river, when the West Kusha Dam of Sunsari broke down, Madhuvan, Laukhi, West Kusha, Haripur, Sripur and other parts of Sunsari suffered a lot of damage. In order to prevent the dam from collapsing, there is an urgent need to work on war level in that area.
