The Election Commission of Nepal has issued a four-point instruction regarding the ban of use of prohibited goods in the polling stations on the Election Day.

The prohibited goods are match-box, lighter, camera and mobile phones among others. The House of Representatives and Province Assembly election are scheduled on November 20 this year in a single phase.

The Commission made the public appeal to the voters and concerned authorities to comply with the instructions after calling an all-party meeting recently.

If voter or other individuals were found bringing with them the prohibited items at the polling centres, arrangement should be made to keep those items safely at the entry point of the polling centres or outside of the centre that deemed appropriate for the voters before allowing them an entry to the polling centre, according to the Commission.

The Commission will take immediate action in accordance with the prevailing law if the voter or any individual were found using the prohibited items inside the polling centres. For this, the chief returning officer or returning officer shall appraise and ask the election officers, assistant election officers and security personnel designated at the polling centres to bring the violators to book.
