Minister for Forest and Environment, Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, said that a guideline to construct wildlife-friendly infrastructure has already been prepared and is in the phase of endorsement.

Inaugurating tiger count at Shuklaphanta, Jigbudha and Laljhadi Complex at Mahendranagar-based Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur today, Minister Yadav shared that wildlife protection would be given high premium by constructing wildlife-friendly infrastructure at protected areas where tigers are spotted.

The tiger census has begun from Chitwan from December 5 onward by dividing parks and forests which are the tiger habitats.

He said emphasis has been laid on quality improvement of tiger’s habitat and to save tiger’s habitat from encroachment in days to come.

The survey would confirm the target of doubling tiger population by 2022.
