HM directs to provide relief to disaster victims

Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed to provide proper management and relief to the families of the three people who died due to strong winds in the Terai and the people affected by the snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous districts.

The Home Minister has directed Pradip Kumar Koirala, Chief Joint Secretary of the Disaster and Conflict Management Division of the Ministry and the Chief District Officers of two districts in Terai, eight districts in the Himalayan region and an Assistant Chief District Officer to provide immediate relief to those affected by the snow and windstorms.

The deceased have been identified as Pratima Kumari, 8, daughter of Mahendra Sada and Arvind, 7, son of Chandra Shekhar Sada.

Home Minister Khand this morning instructed Assistant Chief District Officer Pradarshani Kumari and District Police Chief Basanta Rajaure to make arrangements for the child's funeral and other necessary relief. Similarly, 45-year-old Fulmatiya Devi, wife of Ram Mangal Rai, was killed when a mud house collapsed in Budhimai Municipality-1 of Rautahat on Friday. The Home Minister directed Chief District Officer of Rautahat Krishna Bahadur Shahi and Superintendent of Police Binod Ghimire to provide necessary relief.

The Home Minister has instructed Koirala to remain vigilant for the relief and other necessary work of those affected by the snowstorm and cold wave in the Himalayan district and Terai on Saturday.

Similarly, Chief District Officers Dirgharaj Upadhyay (Darchula), Vijayakumari Prasai (Jumla), Ganesh Acharya (Humla), Shankar Hari Acharya (Gorkha), Umesh Pandey (Taplejung), Ganesh Bahadur Shahi (Solukhumbu), Dilkumar Tamang (Okhaldhunga) and Phanindra Dahal (Khotang) have been instructed to get involved in the management of the affected people by informing them about the impact of the snowfall. Similarly, Assistant Chief District Officer of Dolpa Bam Bahadur Nepali has also taken information about the situation in the district through telephone.
