The Phukot Karnali Semi-Reservoir Hydropower Project in Kalikot will give a 10 percent share to the locals. The project made the announcement during a public hearing on Tuesday.
The project aims to complete the 426 MW capacity project at Bhatti in Raskot Municipality-9 within six years. Project Chief Hirachan Waiba informed that a 600-meter tunnel will be constructed for this. "Geological studies of soil condition, including rocks, have been completed," he said. "We have estimated that about 10,000 trees will be cut down." One tree equals 10 trees will be planted. ”
The project will cost Rs 92 billion, said project expert Shiva Shankar Karki. According to Waiba, the issue of digging will be clarified after the study of the tunnel. "The study work on the project has not been completed," he said. Housing construction work has started. The project has stated that the process of land acquisition has been completed. The process of land acquisition in Rakni, Sunna, Mehalmudhi, Phukot, Badalkot, Nanikot and Ramnakot of Sanni Triveni, Raskot and Pachaljharna has been completed. One thousand 149 families have been affected by the construction of the project. The project owner Waiba informed that the landowners who got all the land at the project site got 75 percent compensation and those who got partial land got 66 percent compensation.
