Mobilization of 14,000 security personnel in Karnali

More than 14,000 security personnel have been mobilized throughout the Karnali province for the provincial and representative assembly elections to be held on November 20.

In view of the elections, 14,807 security personnel have been mobilized in the province, according to the Karnali Province Police Office. According to Madhav Prasad Shrestha, Senior Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson of the office, 14,807 security personnel including 5,729 Nepal Police and 978 regular policemen have been deployed at the polling station to make the election fair and fearless.

The police will patrol on foot in the ward area where the polling station is located. Spokesman Shrestha said, "In every municipality and rural municipality, security arrangements have been made by arranging vehicle mobile patrols and reserve teams under the command of senior police officers. We are trying to make the election peaceful."

He said that it was decided by the state-level election security meeting from the state command post that due to the snowfall and geographical difficulties in Humla, Dolpa, and other districts, helicopter arrangements were made for the transportation of election materials and ballot boxes after the election. He said, "Snowfall has also started in the districts of Upper Karnali, in such a situation we have arranged for helicopters to transport ballot boxes and other materials."

More than 200 polling stations in Karnali are considered very sensitive from a security point of view. Two hundred and sixty-seven polling stations are highly sensitive for the election of the Assembly of Representatives of the State Assembly. Necessary preparations have been intensified in Karnali for the upcoming House of Representatives and State Assembly elections. Election offices in various districts of the state are engaged in pre-election work. There are more than 1 million voters in Karnali.

Ban on sale and distribution of alcohol

The district administration office has banned the sale and distribution of alcohol given the provincial and representative assembly elections to be held on November 4. The district administration office has informed that to maintain the peace and security of their respective districts, the disease has been imposed on the sale and distribution of alcohol. Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rizal informed that liquor sales and distribution have been banned in Surkhet since Friday.

He informed me that it has been decided to completely stop the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcoholic beverages until the election is over, effective from the 25th of October. It has also requested all political parties, industrialists, businessmen, traders, mass media, and the general public in the district to cooperate in the implementation of the decision made by the administration.

Prazia Rizal informed that it was decided to ban the transportation and distribution of materials that can be used in explosions such as gas cylinders, pipes, sockets, pressure cookers, etc. from 24 hours before the start of voting.
