Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday reported 8,467 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 439,658. Additionally, 53 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry has also recorded 203 deaths from COVID-19 including the data from COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) and Nepali Army's dead body management statistics in the past 24 hours. As of Friday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 4,669. The ministry had reported 225 deaths, the highest daily numbers, on Tuesday. Presently, there are 107,336 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 3,349 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu registered 2,458 cases, Lalitpur 556 cases and Bhaktapur registered 335 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 6,135 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Friday, a total of 327,653 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 74.5 per cent.
As of Friday, a total of 2,733,510 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 107,336 persons staying in isolation while 516 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 161.25 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,485,360 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 5:10 pm, on Friday, May 14, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
