KATHMANDU: Speaker of House of Representatives (HoR) Devraj Ghimire has said that Nepal's achievement in peace building and reconciliation was a model for the world.
Addressing the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) on Sunday in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Speaker Ghimire said Nepal could provide an important lesson to the international community on peace, tolerance, conflict management and stability adding that Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the Light of Asia.
In his speech, Ghimire shared that Nepal's Comprehensive Peace Accord signed in 2006 was a historical journey to peace from conflict.
"The peace accord of Nepal has paved the way for federalism, inclusive structure and progressive form of governance through the Constituent Assembly," he added.
On the occasion, Speaker Ghimire described climate change and cyber threats as the key challenges of the world and called for international collaboration and multilateral viewpoints to address them.
