Noted leader Awasthi passes away

The CPN UML has decided to vote against the government during the vote of confidence at the House of Representatives.

Noted leftist leader and social worker Prithvi Raj Awasthi passed away at Godawari, Kailali, on Saturday morning. He was 84-year-old.

Awasthi who was originally from Surnaya Rural Municipality-6 of Baitadi died at his current residence in Kailali. He was also known as 'laltin baje'.

 He was facing health problems for some years. The struggle he did for social change is inspiring. The late played a significant role to move ahead with the leftist movement in the district and vicinity. The locals here also remember him as a person contributing hugely to ending caste discrimination.

Awasthi who had fielded candidacy from the UML party in the election after the restoration of democracy in 1990 received various national honors including Prabal Janasewa.
