PM reassures relief to disaster survivors

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has assured of provide relief to the survivors of the recent incidents of rain-induced disasters across the country.

Talking to media briefly at Biratnagar Airport today, the Prime Minister said the government would ensure food and proper shelter for the affected households.

Expressing sorrow over the loss of valuable lives and properties to the incidents, the head of the government thanked security personnel engaged in the rescue and relief efforts in the disaster-hit areas.

As the Prime Minister said on the occasion, the Council of Ministers would soon meet to take necessary decisions for providing relief to the survivors. He also took time to say that the government would work in a planned way for the prevention and mitigation of possible flood and landslide in the future.

He pledged to provide immediate relief to the victims by making a short and long term plan. On the occasion, Chief District Officer, Morang, Kashi Raj Dahal apprised the PM of the losses caused by flooding and landslides.

PM Deuba is scheduled to inspect the areas in Ilam and Panchthar districts hit by flood and landslides today itself, said assistant CDO Mahesh Timsina.

The PM has been accompanied by Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal and Vice President of the Nepali Congress Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar.
