The government has again increased fares on public transport. The fare has been increased again within a week of the previous increase.

The fare for passenger vehicles has been increased by 2.1 percent. According to the Department of Transport Management, the fare has been increased as the price of diesel increased by Rs 10 per litre as compared to last year. The fare has been increased by 2.1 percent for vehicles plying on hilly roads and 3 percent for freight vehicles plying on Terai roads.

The scientific fare adjustment system states that if the price of fuel decreases or increases by five percent or more, the fare will change automatically. The last time the fare was adjusted was on 4 May. The price of diesel was Rs 153 at that time, but now it is Rs 163.
