Rs 2.74bn allocated for sports, youth programmes

The government has allocated Rs 2.74 billion for the next fiscal year 2021/22 for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

This is an increase of Rs 360 million than in the current fiscal 2020/21. Budget worth Rs 2.36 billion was allotted to the ministry in the current fiscal year. The budget has introduced facility of concessional loans for those retired athletes who want to start a business.

Likewise, budget has also been allocated for the construction of cricket stadiums in Baijanathpur of Morang district, Mulpani in Kathmandu, Bhairahawa in Rupandehi, Lamahi in Dang, Nepalgunj in Banke and Mahendranagar in Kanchanpur, said Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel while announcing the budget.

Likewise, budget has been allotted to open high-altitude sports training centres in Solukhumbu, Sindhupalchok, Manang, Mustang and Jumla. Also, participation in international sports competitions will be increased.
