Three held with elephant's ivory in Bara

Police in Bara district Monday apprehended three people in connection to smuggling elephant ivory from Amlekhgunj Bazaar in Jitpursimara Sub-metropolis-21.

One of the arrestees has been identified as Surya Pratap Tamang (29) of Nijgadh Municipality-11. The identification of two others has not been disclosed.

Security personnel deployed from the Amlekhgunj-based Area Police Office arrested them after recovering ivory with a length of four feet and 12-inch circumference from their possession. The ivory was hidden in a sack while they were riding on a motorcycle (Na 50 Pa 1227).  

Further investigation into the case is underway, said Bara police.
