Two foreigners were arrested for gold smuggling

Two foreign nationals have been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport for trying to smuggle gold through Nepal. Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal said that Indian national Parasnath Sah and Bangladeshi national Mohammad Ullah were arrested while trying to smuggle about one kg of gold from Dubai to Nepal. They were trying to smuggle about one kilogram of gold.

On the basis of special information, a Bangladeshi national Mohammad Ullah, who came to Kathmandu from Dubai by Himalayan Airlines flight number H9566, was arrested along with gold while investigating. During the investigation, the police team found a piece of semi-solid gold in the shape of a belt that could not be detected by making a false bottom.

Police also recovered two cylindrical pieces of gold from his underwear. According to the police, the gold was found to be around one kilogram (936 grams). The current market value of gold is around Rs 7.7 million.

According to him, Parasnath Sah, an Indian national, was also arrested after it was revealed in his statement with Ullah that he was involved in customs fraud. Both of them have been handed over to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office, Gauchar for necessary investigation and action.
