The CPN UML Central Committee meeting has decided to make concerted efforts for unity in the party till the last minute as well as to implement the 10-point agreement of the task force formed to iron out the intraparty problems.

The meeting decided to mull on the next course of action after 24 hours of the letters seeking clarification from the 22 parliamentarians including its senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

A total of 22 parliamentarians from the disgruntled faction of CPN UML had cast vote to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba who had sought vote of confidence in the parliament. The main opposition CPN UML had decided not to give the vote of confidence to Deuba.

Spokesperson of the CPN UML Pradeep Kumar Gyawali shared that Subash Nembang had briefed the meeting about the background of inking a 10-point agreement in the taskforce formed to resolve the intraparty issues and how to enforce it in a phase-wise manner to further consolidate the party.

In the meeting held at the office of the Tulsilal Memorial Academy at Chyasal, Lalitpur on Tuesday, the chairpersons of the various provincial committees of the CPN UML had briefed about the political and organisational state in related provinces. They had also furnished recommendations to the party leadership.

The top leadership will respond to the queries and concerns voiced by the chief of the provincial committees on Wednesday, said Gyawali.

Commission on the Settlement of Land Problems’ Chairperson Devi Gyawali viewed that it would be inappropriate if they were sacked by the incumbent government due to differences in political ideologies at the time when the Commission’s works were taken forward in local units following the agreement.

The ongoing 10th central committee meeting also discussed the achievements of the CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli led government. The meeting had also set agenda for the party for the coming days.

The agendas of the meetings included holding deliberation on the Supreme Court’s mandamus on July 12 to restore the parliament and to appoint Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to the post of Prime Minister, party’s course of action in future and party unification bid among others.

The central committee is meeting next Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
