The meeting of the opposition parties that had been called by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been put on hold. Deuba had invited the top leaders of the opposition parties to his residence in Budhanilkantha for a meeting.
The meeting had been scheduled with an agenda to decide on the formation of an alternate government within the deadline given by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.
Nepali Congress has mentioned that the meeting with leaders of other political parties will be held only after an internal meeting of the office-bearers of the party. The meeting of the leaders of the Nepali Congress will take place at 3 pm today.
It has been reported that Deuba has called for a meeting of the Nepali Congress office-bearers after Mahanta Thakur, Chairperson of Janata Samajwadi Party, issued a statement that his party would not join the alliance to form an alternate government. It has also been reported that Thakur will be notifying the party’s decision not to join the alliance in writing to President Bhandari.
