Erstwhile leader of CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has issued a statement condemning the steps taken in recent times by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of the party.

In the latest development, the Standing Committee meeting of CPN UML held on Monday, expelled 11 members including former prime ministers Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal. The SC meeting took such a decision after the 11 UML lawmakers including senior leader Nepal and Khanal refused to furnish their clarification sought by the meeting held earlier on May 22.

Lawmakers Nepal, Khanal, Bhim Rawal, Kalyani Khadka, Sarala Yadav, Pushpa Karna, Laxmi Chaudhary, Mukunda Neupane, Ram Kumari Jhakri, Kalila Khatun and Nira Devi Jairu were dismissed from their general membership of the party.

Nepal has stated that PM Oli has broken up the party to fulfil his personal wishes. He also mentioned that it is a sad precedent that during a Communist government the corrupt and people involved in nefarious activities had gained more power and that the poor and needy citizens were left out in the cold.

Leader Nepal further stated that Oli had fallen into the trap of conspirators and had broken up the party. He said that it was when these things were pointed out to the prime minister that he along with other lawmakers had to face the brunt of Oli.
