Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, has said that the government has been making preparations for holding talks with Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).
At a press conference organised at the Ministry on Monday to make the cabinet decisions public, Minister Gurung shared that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been calling the Chand-led group to sit for talks and preparation has been made for the same. "The Group is in the process to come to a peaceful path and talks will be held soon. Prime Minister Oli is calling the Group for the same," he said.
Also, Spokesperson of the government, Gurung said, "The country should not be headed towards the violent path. The Nepali society has lagged behind due to natural and political incidents. It is the request of the government of Nepal to all not to involve in any violent activities."
He clarified that all should work together for the country's prosperity and the government is always ready to sit for talks for the same.
Preparation has been made to remove the ban imposed on this Group after it becomes ready to sit for talks with the government. The Group had already sent a message to the government saying it was positive for the talks.
The government had decided to impose a ban on the Chand-led group on March 12, 2019, saying it was involved in violent activities.
