The meeting of the House of Representatives could not move ahead today as well as the main opposition party, CPN UML, continues to obstruct the House business.

As usual, the main opposition party lawmakers picketed the rostrum and chanted slogans soon after the commencement of the meeting.

In the meeting, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota urged the main opposition party to stop the obstruction and extend cooperation in the context of continuing with the House business, reminding them of the provision in the House of Representatives Regulations which states that a topic which is sub judice in court could not be discussed in parliament.

Speaker Sapkota, amid the obstruction, read out a letter on the abrogation of the Ordinance Related to Political Parties and the authentication of bills which was received from the Office of the President. The bills authenticated by the President include the Finance Bill – 2021 and the Bill to Mobilise Internal Loan- 2021.

Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, on the behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, tabled the 58th Annual Report of the Auditor-General – 2021 in the meeting.

The CPN UML continues the House obstruction since the start of the parliament session demanding forwarding the process of taking action against 14 lawmakers against whom it had taken action.

The HoR will next meet at 1 pm on October 5.
