Nepal’s World Cup qualification dream comes to an end

Jordan beat Nepal 3-0 in a game played in Kuwait on Monday

Nepal lost to Jordan in the game played last night which was a part of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and Asian Cup 2023 qualifier. The match was played at the Jaber al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City, Kuwait at 9:45 pm Nepali time.

Jordan beat Nepal 3-0 with Jordanian striker Baha' Faisal opening the scoring from a penalty in the 23rd minute. He added the second goal from a freekick and finally a Yazan Al- Arab header in the 67th minute wrapped up the final score.

Nepal’s fifth defeat in seven outings means Nepal can no longer finish higher than fourth, bringing their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualification hopes to an end. Meanwhile, Jordan’s win keeps their bid for a place in the third round of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualification alive.

Before the game, Abdullah Almutairi, the newly appointed head coach of the Nepali team, had mentioned that the team was prepared and aiming to win the game against Jordan.

Earlier, Nepal beat Chinese Taipei 2-0 on June 3.

The Nepali team comprises of Kiran Chemjong, Bishal Sunar, Deep Karki, Rohit Chand, Ananta Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Gautam Shrestha, Suman Aryal and Bikash Khawas, Bisha Rai, Manish Dangi, Erik Bista, Kamal Thapa, Santosh Tamang, Suman Lama, Sunil Bal, Suraj Jeu Thakuri, Pujan Uparkoti, Aayush Ghalan, Abhisekh Rijal, Anjan Bista, Nawayug Shrestha and Ashish Lama.
