Sandeep Lamichhane who has been out of reach after stating he would return to Nepal without hassle to legally deal with the accusation of rape against him, posted a lengthy status on his Facebook page.

22-year-old Lamichanne was at Kenya when a minor filed a complaint against him for raping her. He then took to his Facebook page to share that he would come back to Nepal voluntarily, stating his innocence. However, he was out of reach since then.

The now suspended Nepali cricket team captain Lamichanne took to Facebook to explain his disappearance where he says,

"I was lucky enough to be included in the national cricket team at the age of 16. It was not something that could be earned by my little hard work. With positive thinking, tireless hard work, and constant efforts to improve me, along with my family, friends, and elders who support me, and with the blessings of my entire cricket team, I have been able to reach the position I am today. I have always moved forward with the desire to keep Nepal's name high in the cricket world. I feel proud to make the name of Nepal known through my hard work.

I came to know on August 22 that a complaint was filed against me on August 21. Regarding the false accusation against me, news came out in the electronic media and social media in a unique way, without understanding the truth, my character will be severely damaged. The news of the warrant being issued in my name and the publicizing of the complaint against me was mentally exhausting, I wasn't able to think straight.

All these things affected me harshly. I had to go through an illness due to the mental stress and ill health I kept myself in Isolation. I have been mentally and physically affected by the portrayal of the criminal based on false accusations, and I have been brought back to normal with the advice of my doctors. My health is gradually improving and I am planning to return to Nepal as soon as possible to respond to the false complaint against me. I am a normal family man who has been passionate about cricket since childhood. Cricket and my country were the only priorities in life for me. I think I also have a role to make Nepali cricket known internationally, be it as a player or as a captain. I am an honest cricket player who has been playing with his life for the nation.

Today I feel I am the victim of a serious conspiracy. I will fight the legal battle against the perjury cases that will convict me in my absence. As far as I understand, the constitution of Nepal states that I am not considered guilty until proven guilty. Also, I understand that the constitution includes the right to live with dignity, the right to freedom from torture, the right to privacy, the right to health, and the right to consult with my legal practitioner.

I would like to express my gratitude to my respected parents, brothers, and sisters, friends and cricket lovers, and my supporters who have good faith towards me and Nepali cricket and I humbly request you all not to spread rumors against me or about me."
