Construction of Film City is about to start in Dangdunge, a tourist destination in Lankuri hill, Bhimeshwor Municipality-9 of Dolakha. The popular film hub, which was planned to be constructed nine years ago, had been postponed.

Chief Administrative Officer Man Bahadur Khadka informed that the construction has started after the state sent the budget to the local level (Bhimeshwar) to start the construction.

The budget allocated for the popular filming location's production was frozen for the last two fiscal years. Sanu Suwal and Sangdorje JV have agreed to build the filming location at a cost of Rs.35 million from the province-level government, and Rs 6.8 million from the local body.

Chief Administrative Officer of the city Khadka said that an information center with an entrance, training room, and two guest houses would be constructed too. He clarified that a structure will be constructed at Kharidhunga of Lamosangu-Jiri road section and about 600 meters above the entrance from Piskar of Sindhupalchowk.

Complaining about the delay in the construction, Film City's visionary and engineer, senior artist Madandas Shrestha said, "The government has already constructed six and a half kilometers long two-lane road, foot trail, and infrastructures including drains in the Film City area at a cost of Rs 124.5 million and also provided water and electricity at a cost of Rs 10 million.

Giving information that a master plan has been prepared for the construction of Film City at a cost of around Rs 5 billion, Shrestha said, "In the first phase, a detailed project report has been prepared for the construction of an administrative building at a cost of around Rs. 250 million.”

The master plan has shown that if the structure is added according to the pressure and number of the pending films, the total cost would be around Rs 15 billion. According to the master plan, an administrative building with accommodation in Film City, indoor shooting studio, post-production unit, monumental avenue, guest house, the thematic village of different castes, helipad, and pond will be constructed in an area of about 9.42 acres.
