The number of pilgrims to Mansarovar Kailash in Tibet travelling through Rasuwagadhi border point has increased in the recent times compared to the previous year.

Altogether 7,523 pilgrims went to Mansarovar Kailash, a religious shrine in China's Tibet, from May 14 to September 10 this year.

Chief of Rasuwagadhi Immigration Office in Timure Murari Niraula said that Nepalis make 60 per cent of the total pilgrims while 40 per cent are non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) from Australia, the USA, the UK and Canada. Almost 200 tourists from other countries too accompanied Nepalis in the Kailash Yatra, the Immigration Office said.

As per the Chinese rule, the pilgrims to Mansarovar are allowed to travel there in groups and should receive visas through travel agencies.

Due to the high altitude of 5,700 metres from the sea level, pilgrims are acclimatized by arranging their stay in different locations during the 10-day-long treks.

Likewise, the hotel business in Timure and Ghattekhola areas has witnessed growth as pilgrims spend their one night in the bordering areas, according to the hoteliers.
