The road was being upgraded at various places from Beni to Letang of Mustang by stopping the movement of vehicles for six hours daily since January 25. Chief of the Beni-Jomsom-Korla Road Project Jagat Prajapati informed that the traffic on the road will not be closed till April 25.
"Due to the increasing pressure of pilgrims and tourists in Mustang, we have removed the schedule till April 25 at the request of the local administration," he said.
Annapurna Village Municipality-7 Mahabhir of Myagdi, Ward No. 2 Naunibagar and Kavrevir section bordering Mustang were closed from 8 to 11 in the morning and from 1 to 4 in the afternoon.
This year's Chaite Dashain festival falls on April 10. It is customary to donate in the memory of a deceased relative in Kagbeni of Mustang during Chaite Dasai. Due to the tourist season, the number of tourists from home and abroad visiting Mustang has also increased. Around 3,000 pilgrims and tourists have been entering Mustang daily for the past few days.
Construction is underway on 12 sections of the 200-kilometer Beni-Jomsom-Korla road project connecting Korla Area, an autonomous region of China. The physical progress of the project, which has been completed in six sections of Mustang so far, is about 70 percent.
