An urban health promotion center has come into operation in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-19 with the objective of making it easier for the cleaners.
A former health clinic has been upgraded and the center with OPD services has been brought into operation with the financial partnership of Kampa and Medsa du Monde of France. The service has been operational since Thursday. The health center has been upgraded as an urban health promotion center to increase the access of informal sector cleaners to the health of the urban community, said Ishwar Man Dangol, spokesperson of the party.
The center will have a doctor, a staff nurse, a health assistant, a lab assistant, and an office assistant. Spokesperson Dangol said that a coordination committee and a strategic & management committee have been formed to run the center. OPD services and medicines will be free at the clinic. Laboratory services will be available at concessional rates. It also provides additional discounts for people working at risk such as sanitation.
