Lawmakers draw govt's attention towards urgency to prevent dengue from spreading

Lawmakers have demanded that the government take urgent steps toward controlling the spread of dengue in various parts of the country.

Airing their views in the 'zero hours' of the meeting of the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament, today, they said that dengue is spreading in many districts including in the Kathmandu Valley and the government should take prompt steps to control it.

Suresh Ale Magar called on the Ministry of Health and Population to swing into action without any delay in containing this deadly disease.

Udaya Bahadur Bohara drew the attention of the authorities concerned about the sorry state of the Tulasipur-Kapurkot section of the Rapti highway.

Urmila Aryal said that the farmers in the Madhes region are suffering due to the poor supply system of fertilizers and lack of irrigation.

Tula Bahadur Bishwakarma called for ratifying the Animal Health and Services Bill at the earliest while Narayan Datta Mishra urged the government to ensure an adequate supply of fertilizer.

Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar expressed concern over the declining credibility of the cooperatives while Madan Kumari Shah called for declaring the Pathaiya, Mohana, Kandra, and Karnali rivers in the Kailali district as the 'dolphin conservation zone.'

Mohamad Khalid complained that the farmers in Siraha have not yet received the relief announced by the government last year for the farmers affected by the drought while Rajendra Laxmi Gaire urged the political parties to provide appropriate representation to women in the upcoming parliamentary election on November 20.
