Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel said that emphasis should be laid on the use of electric vehicles to reduce air pollution. Stating that the rising global consumption of petroleum products and skyrocketing prices have drained the country's capital, he said the use of electric vehicles should be encouraged.
"There is a need for green development by minimizing the negative impact of the transport sector on the environment, such as emissions from fossil fuels, foreign dependence, environmental pollution, global warming in the context of global climate change, greenhouse gas and emissions," he said.
Stating that air pollution is increasing in the country, he urged the researchers to work to control the pollution.
"Petroleum prices are rising and air pollution is increasing day by day," said Minister Poudel. "Given the current situation, the government should prioritize the use of electric vehicles."
