Police arrest man for placing suspicious object in front of Parliament building

Subash Mahat, 21, of Kavrepalanchok Bhumlo-2, Simthali was arrested by the police from Gaushala on the charge of planting a suspicious object (pressure cooker bomb) on the main road in front of the Parliament Building at New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.

Mahat, who had planted the object there with intention of spreading fear among the general public, was arrested from Gaushala, Kathmandu by a special team deployed by the Metropolitan Crime Branch along with the motorcycle used in the incident. It has been revealed that he is the chairperson of the Pashupati Multiple Campus Committee.

Police have recovered a motorcycle (Ba02-030-Pa 7085) used in the incident, helmet, jacket & four mobile phones of different companies, and are conducting further investigation in this regard.
