Two held with 11 statues stolen from Krishna temple in Kathmandu

Two men were arrested from Gokarneshwor Municipality-4 on Sunday night. They allegedly had stolen 11 statues from Krishna Temple in Rumpum Chowk.

The arrested have been identified as Ankit Ghimire (42), a resident of Likhu Rural Municipality-9 in Okhaldhunga district, and Rupnarayan Shah (42), a resident of Ramnagar Rural Municipality-6 in Sarlahi district.

They stole the statues from the temple on June 6. Joint security personnel deployed from the Bouddha-based Metropolitan Police Circle and Gokarna-based Metropolitan Police Division nabbed them with the stolen statues.

The police seized eight brass and three plastic statues that were stolen from the temple from their possession.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
