Despite a handful of blockbuster releases and dazzling indies, 2022 was a much quieter year for video games than anyone expected. As developers battled with complex workplace situations, lockdowns, and other challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic several anticipated gaming titles of the year wound up being delayed and pushed into 2023. However, now that 2023 is here there's a lot to look forward to as the year is now absolutely stacked with major releases, from the biggest video game companies. Let's take a look at some gaming titles that will be coming out this year.
'Hogwarts Legacy' (Release Date: February 10, 2023)
With trailers showing off gorgeous magical lands to explore and beings to befriend, it appears this title will incorporate the very best parts of the Harry Potter franchise for a whole new story set in the once-beloved world.
'Star Wars Jedi: Survivor' (Release Date: March 17, 2023)
Its story picks up the story of Cal Kestis and his little droid BD-1 some five years after 'Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order'. Expect a suite of new characters to journey alongside, new combat stances to learn, and an array of new Force powers to master on your journey to survive.
‘Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’ (Release Date: May 26, 2023)
It's a co-op squad-based game, where, unlike its DC predecessor Gotham Knights, players can switch between characters at will when playing solo; those not currently controlled by the player are AI.
'Street Fighter 6' (Release Date: June 2, 2023)
In this game, there’s a flashy new art style, an array of hard-hitting fighters, improvements to net code, and a whole bunch of other changes. Further, it will also come with a brand new access control scheme that should make it easier for anyone to hop in and fight, no matter the skill level.
‘Marvel's Spider-Man 2’ (Release date: Fall 2023)
The past couple of games have been definitive PlayStation experiences, so 'Spider-Man 2' isn't likely to be anything less. Various teasers and screenshots have shared more about the story – confirming that it will feature Miles Morales and Peter Parker as Spider-Man, and that Venom will play a massive part in the game.
