A total of 42,420 children in Jumla will be vaccinated against typhoid. Chief of the Public Health Office Krishna Sapkota informed that a vaccination campaign against typhoid will be launched in the district from April 8 to April 20.

He said that all the eight local level children above the age of 19 months and under the age of 15 will be vaccinated against typhoid. In line with the government's goal of reducing the number of vaccine-preventable diseases to zero, a vaccination campaign has been launched in Jumla against the growing typhoid disease. To ensure full vaccination, vaccination coverage has been started in the districts where the vaccine coverage has reached 95 per cent.

Typhoid is a disease transmitted through contaminated water and food. There is a risk of spreading the disease as dust and smoke will increase in Chait-Vaisakh and even food will not be clean due to heat. According to the office, a vaccination campaign is being prepared to keep the children alert for typhoid. According to the office, 191 vaccination teams will be mobilized in the villages and schools so that no child is left out of the vaccination.

According to the health office, there were 978 typhoid patients in the district in the fiscal year 2019, one thousand 158 in the fiscal year 2020, 879 in the fiscal year 2021 and 592 in the eight months of the current fiscal year.
