Everyone should be vaccinated till the next election: Chairman Timilsina

Chairman of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has said that all citizens should be given full dose of vaccine against corona till the next election. He also stressed on the need for political parties in Nepal to take up the issue of vaccination against corona virus with priority.

Speaking at an interaction organized by the Ministry of Health and Population and the World Health Organization (WHO) on the topic of immunization against COVID-19 and communication and community participation, he said that priority should be given to declaring Nepal fully vaccinated till the election.

"All the people should be vaccinated, all can be saved from corona," he said. He said that people who do not get vaccinated should be urged to get vaccinated. He said that despite limited resources, Nepal has prevented and controlled the corona virus.

Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada informed that children in the age group of 5 to 11 years will be vaccinated from next month. He said that correspondence has been sent for the purchase of vaccine. He also said that all the people above 12 years of age will be vaccinated by next April.

Earlier, the government had said that the age group above 18 years would be vaccinated by mid-April. He also said that the experience so far in the fight against the corona virus will not do any harm. "The kind of work we've done to prevent and control the corona virus has made it easier to fight corona," he said.

Health Secretary Dr Roshan Pokharel said that prevention of corona virus was possible only with the help of all. Dr. Rajesh Panday, Head of the World Health Organization, Nepal, said that Covid-19 has taught people many lessons that can change lives.

He emphasized the need to focus on emergency response, and said that it was even more important now with the Cold War. He is of the opinion that the vaccine scientist of Covid-19 has succeeded in developing it the fastest ever. He said the Corona epidemic had taught them to reunite with their families, to care for their families and to cope with physical, mental and financial problems.

During the program, discussions were held with the members of the National Assembly on the science behind the Kovid-19 epidemic, the science behind the standards of public health, the strategy of the Ministry of Health for the vaccination program against Covid-19, and the health problems and management after Covid-19.

Earlier, members of the Karnali and Far-Western Provincial Assemblies were also trained by the Ministry and WHO on COVID-19 and its impact.
