At the United Nations Climate Conference (COP 28) being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the documentary "The Plea of the Mountain" covering the damage caused by climate in Nepal has been shown. In the documentary, the effect of the melting of mountains including Everest and Annapurna on people's lives has been shown.
Similarly, due to climate change, floods and landslides in Nepal's Manang, Mustang, Sindhupalchok's Helambu, Melamchi, Dolpa's Phoksundo, and Terai Madhesh have been covered. The documentary features the voices of the residents of the affected areas and has drawn special attention to Nepal for climate justice.
The documentary was written and directed by Balkrishna Basnet, a senior journalist and chairperson of the Press Council Nepal. The documentary was screened in a special program organized by the Ministry of Forest and Environment and the Sath Sathai organization at the Nepal Pavilion under the conference.
After the screening of the documentary, there was also an interaction between various experts. The documentary The Voice for Climate Justice, written and directed by Basnet, was also screened at the COP 27 climate conference in Egypt last year.
