The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Wednesday reported 298 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 278,768.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 163 new cases of coronavirus infection — 132 in Kathmandu, 26 in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 102 males and 61 females have been detected with the respiratory contagion in the valley in the past 24 hours.
As many as 74 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 273,529 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Wednesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.1 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,038 with two deaths reported from the respiratory contagion. Presently, there are 2,201 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 260 new cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 278,470.
More than 132.32 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,007,475 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
