88 Billion revenue collected in 5 months

With the increase in import and export from Birgunj, the main trading point of the country, the revenue collection of the customs office has improved significantly. Compared to the first five months of the last fiscal year, the office has managed to collect more than 52 percent of revenue in the first five months of the current fiscal year.

In the five months from July to November of the Fiscal Year 2021/22, the revenue collected was Rs 58.15 billion, an increase of Rs. This is 52.50 percent more than last year.

According to Information Officer Sumit Gupta, the department has managed to collect Rs. 6.86 billion more than the target of Rs 82.61 billion. He said that the revenue collection has improved due to the increase in imports of vehicles, fuel, industrial raw materials, and other commodities via Birgunj, the main trade gateway of the country.

The office had collected Rs 3.42 billion more than the target of Rs 54.73 billion in the first five months of the last fiscal year. According to the office, the revenue collected from fuel import for Nepal has increased by 35 per cent and revenue from vehicle import has increased by 25 per cent.
