Anyone carrying out anti-election activities will face action: Home Ministry

The Home Ministry has said that anyone found carrying out anti-election activities, disturbing law, and order in the society, and obstructing the voters from the opportunity to select their representatives independently would face action as per the law.

Issuing a press release on Monday, the Home Ministry shared that it has received information that some activities are against the election code of conduct as well as conflict, dispute, and quarrels between some political parties, their representatives, and candidates in the name of election campaigning are taking place.   

Saying it was the responsibility of all to ensure that elections are held in a peaceful, free and fearless environment, the Ministry has mentioned that anyone carrying out activities against the election would be held accountable.

The press statement issued by the Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry, Phanindra Mani Pokharel, reads that no one is allowed to involve in activities against the law as well as to take law into their own hands under the pretext of the election. The security bodies have been closely monitoring such activities.

The local-level election is taking place in the country on May 13. The government has deployed around 260,000 security personnel to ensure the security required for the management of the elections.

Similarly, around 300,000 employees are also deployed for the same.

The Ministry has also requested one and all to join the act of selecting people's representatives through the election, while also helping and facilitating the civil servants, and security personnel to fulfill their duties for the same.
