Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya warned that any audacity to disobey Election Code of Conduct and directives of the Election Commission (EC) would not be tolerated.

At a discussion organized by the EC here today with the youth organizations and youth representatives in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections, Chief Commissioner asserted that cooperation from political parties, candidates, public offices and stakeholders was needed to hold election in free, fair, impartial and fearless environment.

The voting for the House of Assembly and Provincial Assembly is scheduled on November 20 in a single phase.

Thapaliya reiterated, "Whoever else found violating the Election Code of Conduct and Commission's directives shall face the music." Furthermore, he clarified that action would be taken against those local levels that appraised the Commission about their inability to conduct voter education campaign.

The Chief Commissioner urged the youth to optimize use of social networking sites and other medium to positively disseminate about the election and impart voter education.

He also appealed to the youth to play a positive role to maintain cordiality in the wake of publication of election result as, he added, that the number of defeated candidates would be higher than the elected ones in the election and thereby the discontentment could spoil the political environment after the poll.

He added that a request was made to make polling centre as much as disability-friendly. "We call for cooperation from all quarters to hold election in free, fair, impartial manner and in peaceful environment."
